THEME: WOMAN AND MEXICO
The art of fiber has many facets and is continuously an exploration ground where numerous disciplines, techniques, and materials converge. It has allowed for an opening in contemporary expression, where women are predominantly featured among the arts. At the same time, multiple techniques are incorporated into these diverse paths. This is the case of the two artists presented here: Yosi Anaya and Sara Corenstein, both Mexicans from different cultural backgrounds and formations, converging in the field of art, in their explorations in various techniques, and especially in fiber art. They, through predominantly textile expressions, juxtapose their ideas in materials and processes. They overlap, combine, and diversify concepts around their roots, as Mexican women today.
THE DIALOGUE BETWEEN THE TWO ARTISTS
We want to present a dialogue between Sara Corenstein's internal and intimate landscape and Yosi Anaya's external and ethereal landscape. Their themes are approached from different personal visions and experiences. At the same time, both artists explore an identity and roots search in the complex country that is Mexico, where they ultimately place their explorations.
They express in fiber art the idea of how they identify in different ways. Sara through the connections and ruptures of her family lineage and her dreams; and Yosi connects with Mexico's dark landscape, with its diverse stories, ancestral cultures, and the passage of time.
The outstanding elements of their respective searches as Mexicans converge through the internal dialogue within the urban and rural setting, from what is observed to what is reflected, from what is dreamed to what is felt.
The multidisciplinary and multicultural collective exhibition of Mexican artists under the title "ENRAIZADAS" will bring together the works of Yosi Anaya and Sara Corenstein, generating a dialogue between both artists with different plastic proposals and using both traditional and contemporary procedures in artistic production. They will use research through plastic arts from the search for the passage to the interior and exterior of women to express and manifest themselves in the material.
The project has been convened and curated by the International Cuurationship team (María Ortega and Los Anaya), having held exhibitions in South Korea, the United States, and Colombia.
The artists were selected for their trajectory and the strength of their proposals around the theme of the call (Woman and Mexico) to strengthen ties between artists and the general public.
The exhibition is aimed at a varied audience of all ages and conditions, but also aims to attract a specific audience interested in contemporary visual arts and Mexican art.
