From February 29th to May 5th, 2024

46 years ago, Colita (Isabel Steva Hernández) and Maria Aurèlia Capmany joined forces to advocate for the role of women in a patriarchal society. Each from their respective professions – one, a photographer, and the other, a writer – they published what can be considered the first openly feminist graphic book during the Transition period, 'Antifémina.' Published in 1977, the publisher quickly withdrew it from the market, but it became a critical and assertive cult book.

Years later, Colita and Francesc Polop, director of her Archive, revived the project by locating and restoring the original negatives. The book was finally reissued and published in 2021 by Terranova Publishing and the City Council of Barcelona.

The relevance of their criticisms and reflections makes it necessary for this pioneering project to see the light again today. Through this exhibition, presented for the first time, we want to highlight the value of the book and reclaim the figure of two intellectual and courageous women who fought in a tumultuous time to dignify the role of being a woman and to speak about feminism in a clear and direct manner.
