Mujeres en las Artes Visuales

MAV, the Association of Women in the Visual Arts, is a group of professionals related to the visual arts field in Spain; artists, critics, managers, curators, gallery owners, collectors, designers, teachers, directors of public institutions, editors, researchers, specialist journalists, architects, lawyers etc., who work to improve the visibility and equal rights of women in our society, and more specifically in the field of visual arts.

MAV, in addition to organizing the BMAV, develops its own initiatives such as the magazine  M-arte y Cultura Visual, specialized in art criticism from a gender perspective, the MAV Awards, held since 2010; the MAV Forum since 2015, the development of the MAV Equity Tool and the edition of reports and publications.

MAV, the Association of Women in Contemporary Visual Arts was established on May 9, 2009 at a meeting held at La Casa Encendida (Madrid) and is registered in the National Register of Associations (No. 593523), as an interprofessional and statewide non-profit association.
